About the Ratbag Radio Network

Ratbag Radio isn't radio of course, but this title has a certain easy flow ring to it is you want to label something as audio. And that's what it is: audio -- like radio but in the form of Mp3 files of varying lengths embedded on a feed.

The feed part is the part that enables you to subscribe to the episodes as they are produced. That's what makes them podcasts.

A podcast is a form of audioblogging -- We make the audio as files which are uploaded to a blog. But if you have a podcatcher program -- like FireAnt -- your computer will automatically download each episode.

So each time they are uploaded you can access them either on site or as part of a special url address you can subscribe to. This address is written in unique script called RSS. Ratbag Radio Network is a collection of podcasts or channels which can be subscribed to. All these are produced by Dave Riley --who runs a personal blog called The Life of Riley.

Dave started adding audio to his blog -- The Life thereof -- and from there got into podcasting. This is how Ratbag Radio started. Then, as more projects were tackled, podcasts with different subjects were created(and with different names), so that before he knew where he was, he was producing four podcasts. What with one thing and another it was confusing what the hierarchy was supposed to be and how separate or integrated each podcast was with the other. Thus the "network' is an attempt to package the lot for the sake of easier management and greater promotion.

Dave hopes it will work --especially for those how cannot understand how podcasting differs from radio-- even though we call it Ratbag Radio. But then the absolute law of everything is this: the proof of the pudding is in the eating. The same goes for podcasts and podcasting.
